Bodega, Birmingham – New Bar Opening

Bodega BirminghamThe whispers are true. A few months back we heard of a new bar opening in Birmingham, that had a good team behind it from other venues.

That bar is Bodega, based on Bennetts Hill and opening on the 14th September. It’s from the people behind the Island Bar, Jekyll and Hyde and the Victoria. It’s aiming to be a South American Bar and Cantina, but thats about all we know so far.

A quick line to say I tried this new restaurant last night. A little gem! Piping hot, properly cooked food, friendly authentic service and a novel bar menu. Try the cocktails, or tackle the biggest bottle of S American beer on the market (has to be seen to be believed). Also the price range was very good for this central location. With dinner for 4 – the works – plus wine and bar drinks coming in at around £25 each we will all be back.

Glad you enjoyed it, I’ve not had the pleasure of visiting yet.

I and 3 colleagues had a meal here 22 Sept 10. Can’t praise it enough! Amazing food and service and sensible prices. A very big thumb’s up!

I’ve been twice now, the cocktails and drinks are well made and delicious, and the staff are friendly and polite but the food really isn’t very good. It’s essentially a poorly executed knock off of Wahaca in London (even going to far to as basically copy the menu), but with none of the freshness, quality or flavour of the food produced there. Food prices on paper are reasonable, but for the quality of the food not really worth it. Both times it ended up feeling like a slightly soul-less take on what is one of the most interesting growing world cuisines.
