Tony Conigliaro, of 69 Colebrooke Row fame, is to host a set of Guardian Cocktail Masterclasses. I’ve paid a visit to the lab above the bar before and can promise that those who attend will be rewarded with knowledge and skills beyond the usual cocktail classes.
There are two types of classes on offer, an intense four week course with Tony in his Lab, or a larger afternoon group session in the bar.
Lab Sessions begin on 22 February 2011, and continue for 4 weeks, Tuesdays 7pm-9pm. You would have the chance to work out of Tony’s laboratory above the unnamed bar at 69 Colebrooke Row, students will learn how to use scientific equipment and groundbreaking techniques to create drinks with extraordinary intensity and flavour.
Working alongside Tony, students will experiment in the lab and produce various alcoholic concoctions as well as embarking on a tour of the curious world of taste and smell. This is a rare opportunity to learn from a real-life drinks magician!
Availability: 5 Places, at £500 each.

The more affordable option might be the group sessions in the bar, there are two session available on the 5 March 2011 and 19 March 2011, 2-4pm.
Set over an afternoon Tony will deliver an inspiring masterclass in the art of cocktail making. The class will begin with a whistle-stop tour of the cocktail’s history while examining the theory behind drink making. Tony will then launch the group into a practical session focusing on how to create the perfect cocktail for every occasion.
The class is aimed at those with a serious interest in making exciting drinks and doing something a little bit more inventive when entertaining friends and family. And this is a fantastic opportunity to pick the brains of the man who is widely regarded as, the Heston Blumenthal of the cocktail world.
Availability: 25 Places, at £125 each.
