Sipsmith LogoSipsmith, a lovely Gin distillery that I have known of for a while (and got to taste their Gin & Vodka at Imbibe), who seem to be doing lovely things.

The other day, they mentioned through their twitter (@SipsmithSam) that they were just about to release their Sloe gin. It looks like this was made late last year, if this is part of the batch that is softly mentioned on their website in their news:

We could not let sloe season pass us by.

Sipsmith Sloe Gin 2009Yes, we’re living in London far from the nearest blackthorn, but we’re not letting a lack of proximity stand in our way. After all, making sloe gin is a great British tradition.

So we bought a load of sloes from a very pleasant Scottish farmer. On eBay.

He shipped them the same day, and by the next they were pricked and settled into large jars with half a kilo of sloes to each litre of Sipsmith London Dry Gin.

From ‘November Sloe Gin

At this moment in time we don’t know about availability, stockists, or quite simply when it’s going to appear in my Gin selection at home.

Cost: £20
